Hello lovely people,
I need to tell you about a VERY special Tropic delivery that came this week. Not one, but TWO luxury kit cases. I’m not going to mention the fact that there is now only room in my wardrobe for really short items of clothing as these cases had to live somewhere..!! Apparently it wasn’t acceptable to leave them out on display, as they are in the picture above! I know you will share in my excitement at just how utterly amazing these two fabulous cases are!
Incidentally, note the picture of what used to be my sock drawer is now full of Tropic goodies all nicely organised into my Ikea sock boxes. I’m down to my last Travel Essentials Kit. This has been my best seller over the Christmas and New year period. Clearly, a lot of like minded people have decided to start the new year with a new skin care range. This kit is such a brilliant way to start using The ABC range and also includes the award winning Elixir age-defying facial oil and the mini Tamanu rescue healing cream.
We are now six days into the new year and so far I haven’t honoured any of my resolutions.
I was going to do Yoga with Adriene every evening, finish off my four handmade Christmas presents, drink buckets of water and have at least one weekly candle-lit bath to include a facial, body exfoliation and foot soak.
I started doing very basic Yoga just before my pregnancy. I tried. I really did, to keep it up during my pregnancy but it was a no-goer for various reasons. So, I told myself that I would definitely get back into it, (even though I was never actually into it) as soon as the baby arrived. That didn’t happen.
The most stretching I’ve done is getting up off the floor whilst holding my very wriggly daughter.
I had a sewing frenzy on the run up to Christmas. I do it every year. I leave all of my most difficult hand made gifts to the last minute in the hope that the sudden pressure will make me sew faster. Anyone that knows me will laugh at that as I sew at one speed and it doesn’t go anywhere close to fast. The dining table was taken up for the whole week with my sewing machine; various craft paraphernalia and every piece of fabric I owned. Just in case I got ahead and was able to start another project. This will also make anyone who knows me laugh as I have a list of on-going projects spanning back years. I have a very close friend who is still awaiting her wedding patchwork quilt. She got married in June 2012…Fortunately, she is not only just a lovely friend but also incredibly patient.
Unfortunately my sewing machine was put away on Christmas Eve. Only because my husband – Mr M, insisted that we needed the table for Christmas day dinner. This meant that two very special little girl’s didn’t get a dolly and Reba the dog went without a stocking. Don’t judge me. Harsh decisions get made at Christmas-time regarding my craft projects.
Incidentally, my allocated craft area is in our attic room and it’s really lovely. I have the most inspirational pictures on the wall, my lovely threads and cottons are all on display and I have all my beautiful fabrics in wicker baskets. Beautiful yarn’s, knitting needles and crochet hooks are arranged so thoughtfully on my various workspaces. My craft area is the absolute picture of a Pinterest Alladin’s cave. The trouble is, I have to go up two flights of stairs to get there and I don’t have anyone to talk to. That’s why every time I have one of my sewing frenzies, EVERYTHING comes downstairs to the dining room table. It only then goes back upstairs when I start losing things or it’s no longer possible to feed everyone on trays from the sofa.
The only drinks I’ve been pouring since the new year are tea and wine. With the exception of one day – I’ve been to a Spa this week and I was so impressed with myself for drinking half my bottle of water. I needed to pee every 15 minutes and I wear an all-in-one swimsuit so it takes a long time to get it on and off. Hence why I only drank half the bottle.
I had one bath over the Christmas period, (I hasten to add that I also shower daily) and that actually could have incorporated my wish list of a facial, body exfoliation and a foot soak, but I was so knackered from the run up to Christmas that I just lay there with half a face pack on for the first half hour. I know this because I took a selfie. Not to be vain but to check the candles behind my head. There has been an incident where I have set fire to my hair whilst relaxing in the bath with tea candles burning behind my head. As lovely as our bathroom is, the person who designed the bath didn’t really think how impractical a lovely tiled area to put your candles, toiletries and glass of wine at the BACK of the bath, as opposed to behind the taps where you can actually see and reach everything without pulling a muscle, would be.
All my favourite Tropic bath treats – Face Smooth, Body Smooth, Body Pebble, Fresh Faced Mask Collection, (I’m big into mask contouring – I promise a picture of this soon) Sooth The Senses Body Wash and the amazing Signature Candle are all sitting patiently around the bath waiting for me. Chances are though that they will get moved as my daughter will have a bath before I do. You might be forgiven for thinking that all these toiletries are out of reach for a small baby but she is so quick and agile, (try and imagine a baby acrobat) she would have them with her in the bubbles before her feet touch the bottom of the bath.
So, I’m thinking that I might just make some more non-specific resolutions in the hope that I might have a fighting chance of sticking to them.
I’ll get back to you with my list.
In the meantime I’m going to make a wish list. My biggest wish for the coming year is to keep blogging weekly and to make a success of being an ambassador for Tropic Skincare.
I’m going to go as far as saying that by my 40th birthday, (which is less than 20 months away) I want THIS to be my full time job. I can’t think of anything more liberating than waking up everyday to talk to you all via my blog and hopefully meet you too, to introduce you to all the wonderful Tropic products.
I’m not specifically trained in the beauty trade so that’s also going on my wish list. I really want to educate myself about Skincare and am currently researching beauty courses. I would love your recommendations of beauty schools and courses.
I’m going to sign off here as I have a cake to bake for my lovely friends coming today.
I hope you have something nice planned for the weekend. I am so excited to be catching up with some old friends who live too far away for regular catchups, hence when we do all get together, its always extra special.
Happy Friday to you all!
